Cereals are common breakfast food for many of us. This is commonly eaten with milk on it. But did you know that you can make a delicious cookie from it? This will be an eye-catching activity, especially for the kids, since we will be using rainbow-colored cereals as cookies. We will be using minimal ingredients and this would definitely fit your daily budget.
So if you are still thinking of what snack are you serving later, then let us start making these fun cereal cookies now!
Step 1: Prepare all the ingredients and supplies needed for this fun activity:
• rainbow-colored cereals
• a block of a plain unsweetened chocolate bar
• several marshmallows
• wax paper or aluminum foil
• chopping board
• non-stick pan
• wooden spatula
• deep pan or casserole
• a small ceramic or china bowl
• a glass of water
Step 2: Put a slice of butter on a non-stick pan. The butter would depend on the amount of cereals that you have. Just make an approximate measurement for this one. Melt the butter in low heat.
Step 3: Put the marshmallows on the heated butter and melt the marshmallows in low heat. Remove the pan from the stove once the mallows melted.
Step 4: Pour the rainbow cereals on the melted marshmallows. Do these while the pan is hot so that the cereals will properly mix with the marshmallows.
Step 5: Mix the cereals and the marshmallow together until the mallows become sticky.
Step 6: Wet your hands and form a spherical cookie out of the cereals with mallows. Make sure that the mixture is quite hot so that you can still form the cookie properly. Wetting the hands would help you avoid burning your palms on this step, especially if you have a low tolerance to heat.
Step 7: Keep on forming the cereals with marshmallows and place it on a wax paper or an aluminum foil. Set aside for a while.
Step 8: Slice the chocolate bar into smaller pieces and place it on a ceramic or china bowl.
Step 9: Place the bowl with chocolate on a deep pan or casserole that is half-filled with water.
Step 10: Melt the chocolate in the bowl and stop when you achieve the desired consistency.
Step 11: Spread the melted chocolate on top of the cereal cookies.
Step 12: You can place the cookies in the fridge or better yet serve them directly to your guests!
The rainbow cereal cookies can be stored for a week so we would not worry of the spoilage since we only used marshmallows to stick them together. We used an unsweetened chocolate bar since most of the rainbow cereals are already sweet, but if you have a sweet tooth and want to boost your sweet cravings, you can use your favorite milk chocolate bar as toppings.
